Murmurtale Dictation history
Open History from the menu (⌘Y). Rows show metadata and only the first line of a dictation by default, so the window does not expose full passages at a glance. Search remains local to your Mac, and Copy is available when you need the full text.
Delete and retention controls
Choose Auto-delete: Off, 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days. Off keeps History until you delete it; 30 days is the default. A shorter choice removes already-expired records and their saved audio after confirmation. Use an item's visible Delete button to remove only that record, or Clear history to remove every History record and saved recording. Clear history does not remove dictionaries, manuscripts, settings, or lifetime word count.
If something goes wrong
Audio is saved to disk from the very first moment of capture — before transcription runs. If transcription fails, the entry stays in History with Play and Retry until you delete it or its selected retention period expires. Retry re-runs the exact local audio.
Possible-noise captures
Murmurtale guards against inserting garbage. If a capture looks like silence or noise — no clear speech — it is never inserted. Instead it lands in History marked "Possible noise — not inserted" (in amber) with the option to Play, Retry, or Copy anyway. That way a cough or an empty room can never overwrite your page.
